Brands Hatch 2018

4 June 2018

The UPE Motorsport team and our drivers descended on the world famous Brands Hatch circuit in Kent for Round 3 of the Caterham Motorsport championships.

In the ultra competitive 310R championship James Beardwell qualified well inside the top 10 as Rob Watts struggled with traffic. Rob charged through in the races however to pick up a brace of top-10 finishes as James recovered from contact in race 1 and being forced off circuit in race 2 to finish 10th.

Our 270R drivers had... a fabulous couple of races around the undulating sweeps with Gary Smith proving to be Mr Consistent with a pair of 5th places and only missing a podium in race 1 by 0.3 of a second. John Shiveral and Paul Vernon had a race long battle that fell John's way amidst a train of cars that also included Tim Child, Eric Tiv and Richard Toomey. John Styring, James Elvery and Dave Bullock also had a fabulous intra-team scrap

270 race 2 unfortunately saw a racing incident eliminate Tiv and Toomey on the opening lap with minor damage. It was Paul Vernon who pipped John Shiveral this time round with Tim Child having another hard fought race to finish 11th. James Elvery, John Styring and Dave Bullock had yet another fabulous duel to round out a wonderful weekend.

It's time to fix the minor war wounds and regroup for our next outing as the Caterham Motorsport championships decamp to Zandvoort in Holland at the end of June. We'll see you there!

Proost!
